Welcome to The Pelican Inn

The Pelican Inn, nestled on Sycamore Street in the heart of Newcastle Emlyn, stands out as a charming and unpretentious establishment that perfectly captures the essence of a true British pub. With a solid 4.5-star rating, it draws visitors not only for its warm atmosphere but for its genuine hospitality and well-curated selection of beverages. The pub’s character shines through in its balance of tradition and quirky charm, making every visit memorable.

Customers consistently praise the Pelican Inn for its friendly staff and inviting vibe. Noah Swinden highlights the exceptional food, especially the renowned chips, which seem almost legendary among patrons. Though he notes the absence of music, this does little to temper the overall positive experience. Regulars and newcomers alike find comfort in the familiar and unpretentious setting, where a good pint and a friendly conversation flow freely.

The Pelican Inn also thrives on being a social hub with classic pub pastimes like darts and pool, accompanied by a slightly eccentric but endearing landlord who adds to the venue’s distinctive personality. Jon Barnett’s words paint a picture of a proper little pub that doesn’t try to be anything other than itself—serving well-kept beers, decent lagers, and intriguingly crafted cocktails with equal pride.

Another notable aspect is its warm welcome to all, including groups of cold, wet bikers, as Ian Dickinson shares. This inclusivity speaks volumes about the pub’s genuine spirit—a place where anyone can find solace from the elements and companionship within its walls.

The Pelican Inn also effortlessly blends into the local culture of Newcastle Emlyn, becoming a natural stop for visitors exploring the town. Its witty pub board and lively yet relaxed atmosphere make it more than just a place to drink; it’s a community cornerstone. Debs Leech’s story reflects this perfectly, recounting a spontaneous visit that transformed into a cherished evening despite other dining plans.

In sum, The Pelican Inn embodies the heart and soul of British pub culture with its authentic ambiance, attentive service, and a true sense of belonging. It is not merely about the food or drinks but the experiences shared, the stories told, and the laughter echoing through its rooms. For anyone seeking a genuine, welcoming pub in Newcastle Emlyn, The Pelican Inn promises an experience that resonates long after the final pint is enjoyed.

Lovely people, amazing food (the chips are to die for). Would rate 5 stars if there was music in the pub!

Told him mum doesn’t have a social circle for evening, being a widower etc etc Not anymore he told her what evenings to come in the pub he will look after her even said he would make sure she arrived back home safely, such a lovely landlord.
